I started Karate at Eastpoint when I was 15 with an ex-boyfriend and his friends for a bit of fitness and self-defence.  I outlasted them all for one reason or another and I still enjoy it as much now (a few years on) as when I first started.  I have had excellent tuition mainly from Shihan Buxey, Sensei Taylor but also others who have been invited to teach from other clubs, which adds variety and makes you think about what you know in a slightly different way.  I love the history and the tradition of the art of Goju Ryu karate and have found that if I have any time away from it that I miss it greatly.  I feel it has given me a lot of confidence, self-control, an interest in a different way of life and fitness but also it has given me lifelong friends with my fellow karateka and I value that greatly.  I would recommend it to anyone as a great way to keep fit, make friends and learn something new that could help you out of a sticky situation one day!

I was introduced to karate by work colleagues at a time when I was looking for a hobby to improve my life.I attended my first 'Eastpoint Karate' class in 1998. I found karate a great outlet for my frustrations at the time.Karate soon became more than just a hobby and started to inspire me to achieve more inside and outside the Dojo.I have attend a few other karate clubs, I've also tried some other martial arts to get some comparison and gain more knowledge/skill over the years Karate has continued to improve the structure of my life and my coping skills in the face of adversity.
Although I have trained under some other instructors with the blessing of Shihan Buxey, Eastpoint still remains my 'Home' Karate club which I attend every week, work permitting.
